When we were brainstorming ideas for our wedding, the favor issue was decided early. We’ll be making a donation to the American Cancer Society not only to honor Mr Snow’s experience, but to remember the numerous family members and friends who have endured cancer treatment.
But, we still wanted to give our guests a little something as a “Thank you for celebrating with us” gift. We thought of M&Ms (both of our initials are M and we’ve had way too much nerd-fun joking that we’d save a bunch on personalization. Har har!), but neither of us really *like* M&Ms despite the nerdy personalization jokes, so they were out.
So, what would we give people? Then it hit us! We have some really cheeky (some might say cheeky, others cheesy… we own it!) and uniquely Southern food items we really really like, so we decided to put together Miss and Mr Snow’s Pack o’ Snacks (we probably won’t really call them that, but that’s totally what they are). They will contain (*drum roll please*):
Cheerwine!
I love Cheerwine (well, the diet version). This bright stain-everything-red cherry-flavored caffeinated nectar is my favorite soft drink. Seriously, I love it. And, it is made in North Carolina (and a point of NC-Native pride!).

See?
Not only do I love it, but it is red (one of our wedding colors!), and comes in classy glass bottles. Perfect!
Along with bottles of Cheerwine, we’ll have:
Banana MoonPies!
These bright yellow marshmallow cake-things (that neither taste much like banana nor look anything like pie… or cake… or a cookie *shrug*) are Mr. Snow’s favorite. I like them too, but Mr. Snow looooooves them. I try to bring him a few of these little goodies after every trip down South, and they always end up looking like this after the suitcase treatment:
(Yes, smashed beyond belief…pic by me)
So, yep, we’re putting those in our favor bag, too. They’re made in Tennessee, so they’re still very Southern. At this point, I know you’re wondering, “Tell me, Snow. What other super classy snack will you add to compete with bright red soda and fake-yellow cake/pie/marshmallowthings??”
Well, hot sauce, of course!
The North Carolina original: Texas Pete!
(Yes, Texas Pete is made in North Carolina. I guess “North Carolina Pete” lacks a certain hot-sauce ring.)
We import this stuff by the gallon (no lie…gallons) from NC. It is our absolute favorite hot sauce. (Seriously, this summer, we were at Taste of Chicago and thoroughly embarrassed ourselves because we spotted a Texas Pete booth. After accidentally jumping in front of about 10 disgruntled ladies waiting for hot sauce samples so that we could express our Texas Pete love, the Texas Pete rep, clearly wigged by our hot sauce fervor, asked us to kindly go to the back of the line and wait our turn for a sample… we didn’t have a chance to explain we had a stockpile at home and just wanted to, well, say, “Hi. Love your product!” *Hides head in semi-shame*)
So, our wedding guests are getting their very own bottle.
We may add some amazing Wisconsin cheese to this collection of Southern snack foods, but we may stop with Cheerwine, MoonPies, and Texas Pete.
(I told you these favors were kind cheesy cheeky).
The best part of The Snow Pack o’ Snacks is that all these items are cheap… we’ll spend about 1.50 (max) on the entire bag. Mr. Snow’s going package them in some Goccoed (the Gocco has yet to make its final appearance!) paper bags, and voila! Favors! Some of our guests may raise an eyebrow (yes, Mama Snow has already said, “You’re giving people MOONPIES?”), but these snacks are totally us. We hope people giggle a little when they see our favors, then chow down.
So, tell me about your cheeky favors! What are you giving your guests? Anyone else planning eyebrow-raisers?
