Brides ‘always willing to pay more for a wedding dress’

Although the credit crunch may mean that some couples are reigning in their spending when it comes to booking wedding flowers or a cake, the dress is something a bride will always spend money on.

This is according to Rachel Morgan, editor of Wedding Ideas, who said that most women "would pay a little extra to get the design of their dreams".

She believes that the frock is one of the most important parts of the big day for women and many manufacturers are now picking up on catwalk trends and producing "great dresses at fantastic prices".

One of the most popular emerging trends, in Ms Morgan's opinion, is for one-shouldered gowns or designs with sparkly shoulder straps, as they are taking over from traditional strapless styles.

Earlier this year, AA Savings revealed that the average bride spends £571 on her wedding dress, while couples splash out up to £1,526 on the wedding venue.
